How It All Began

As we paddled in San Francisco Bay in his kayak, my husband of one year popped the question. "How would you like to move to Sausalito and live on a boat?" Seduced by the panorama and the thrill of being close to the water, I said "yes." Until that day, the only boat I had ever ridden was the ferry.

What my husband romantically called a boat turned out to be a 104' historic sailing ship which became our home for the next ten years. We shared it with our two children and assorted pets plus some college students who helped out on board.

The next time I lived on board was twenty years later.  Once our nest was empty, I moved aboard our 27' Catalina sailboat and we began avidly looking for a larger vessel.  Fourteen months later we purchased a beautiful Catalina 320 sailboat.  The extra five feet in length and three feet in beam (width) have significantly enhanced our lifestyle.  "Dreamcatcher" has been our full-time home for the last eighteen months.

Through my more than twelve years as a liveaboard, I have become very experienced and knowledgeable. I have been anchored out as well as tied up in a marina.  I have lived as a couple as well as a family and have lots of experience with pets and kids on board.  A detailed chronology can be found on my blog.

As one who is enthusiastically living aboard every day, I am excited about helping you navigate through this lifestyle change.  Hopefully you'll join me, living on the water......on a yacht.
